Rolling Meadows High School is holding its first Black History Month heritage week. The week will be from Feb 24 to Feb 28. Each day of the week commemorates the accomplishments of the African American population. Monday is called “Melanted Monday” where teachers will incorporate African history into the daily lesson. Tuesday will be “Trivia Tuesday” where students will be able to partake in African American trivia. To participate, pick up a trivia card and identify important African American celebrities. There is a 25 dollar gift card prize for the winner. Wednesday is “Why are you mad? Wednesday”. There will be a discussion regarding the need for Black History Month. Thursday is “Throwback Thursday” where a demonstration of black greek stepping will be taught in the black box theater. Friday is “Black Friday” where students can show their support of Black History Month by wearing a shirt that celebrates the culture and history of African American people.
