Vasi’s 10 Must Watch Halloween Movies

“Halloween” (1978) 

Everyone knows the infamous Michael Myers. This villain stars in one of the most iconic and classic spooky movies, which is perfect for this season. If you like scary movies with a bit of slashing and not too much gore, then you should watch “Halloween”. 

“Ghostbusters” (1984)

“Who you gonna call?” is one of the most popular movie quotes ever. Now, if you don’t know the answer or what it’s from then you haven’t been watching the right things. If you like Halloween mixed with some excellent comedy then “Ghostbusters” is the movie for you. 

“Beetlejuice” (1988) 

In this movie, a crazy spirit named Beetlejuice becomes a little more dangerous than everyone expected. He offers to help a spirited couple to haunt a family in hopes they will leave the home they’re currently living in. But he has an ulterior motive underlying his generous behavior. If you like some Halloween movies with dark humor, watch “Beetlejuice.”

“Edward Scissorhands” (1990) 

In this partially romantic movie, an unfinished Edward Scissorhands learns how to love even though he’s an outcast. Edward is a gentle, artistic, and kind man who was sadly left with an unappealing appearance. With a 90% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, you should watch “Edward Scissorhands.” 

“The Addams Family” (1991) 

In this classic kid-friendly Halloween movie, this family’s normal is weird to everyone else. A man named Fester who claims to be Gomez’s brother shows up and the family must figure out if it’s truly him or if he has other plans. With a box office of 191.5 million USD, a lot of work was clearly put into this movie, so you should go watch “The Addams Family.” 

“Hocus Pocus” (1993) 

In this Disney classic movie, 3 witches get freed by a little kid named Max, who recently moved into the house they used to live in. To fix his mistake, Max is gonna need some help to prevent the witches from becoming immortal. If you need a movie for family night watch “Hocus Pocus.” 

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993) 

In this family-friendly animation movie, Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king, gets a little bored of scaring people until he gets to Christmastown. He gets an idea to kidnap Santa in hopes to take over. If you liked any of the Grinch movies, then you should give “The Nightmare Before Christmas” a try.  

“Scream” (1996) 

In this clever and scary movie, a famous mask was born. This black comedic parody has slasher stalk high-school students. Although many of the students know how horror movies go, they weren’t prepared for their own. Watch the movie “Scream”, created by Wes Craven, a man who “reinvented and revitalized the slasher-horror movie genre.” 

“Halloweentown” (1998)

In this nostalgic movie, 3 kids visit their grandma in a strange town. They learn how to do magic, so they can hopefully restore the town to how it once was. “Halloweentown” is a great feel-good movie that never loses the spirit of Halloween. 

“The Sixth Sense” (1999) 

“I see dead people,” Cole Sear, the little boy says. In this movie, Cole is haunted by dead people and gets help from his psychologist. Although you might think you know how this movie will end, it will surprise you with something completely different. If you like thriller movies that end with a twist, watch The Sixth Sense.
